Lifestyle changes that may be helpful
Pregnant women should avoid alcohol completely. Alcohol intake by pregnant women can lead to a spectrum of disorders, including fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder (ARND), and alcohol-related birth defects (ARBD). FAS is characterized by growth retardation, abnormal facial features, and mental retardation. In addition, about 80% of children with FAS have an abnormally small cranium, called microcephaly. | A surprising number of prescription and over-the-counter medications can contribute to nightmares, insomnia, or disrupted sleep. Many of these drugs would not necessarily be expected to cause problems. Beta-blockers such as atenolol, metoprolol, and propranolol, which are prescribed for high blood pressure or heart trouble, may cause nightmares and insomnia. The osteoporosis medicine Actonel (risedro-nate) can interfere with sleep. | Although I don't normally recommend taking isolated nutrients, this is certainly a much better choice than taking over-the-counter medications, which usually don't give you relief anyway. There is also a homeopathic remedy for detoxifying MSG available online. This is helpful for flushing out accumulated MSG from your system and reducing overall sensitivity.
Everyone can benefit from increasing awareness about the problems associated with MSG and ways to avoid it; if not for themselves, then certainly for a loved one or someone else they may encounter. | It is also possible to develop hepatitis as a result of exposure to certain toxins or alcohol or drug use, including the overuse of over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
